The other major export is seafood, especially shrimp and catfish.

    Day 5

Cu Chi Tunnels - Cao Dai Holy See

Depart from Ho Chi Minh City for a visit to Cu Chi Tunnels. The cramped tunnels were central to a few of the war’s strategic operations, including the famous 1968 Tet Offensive, and they didn’t escape damage. American B52 bombers dropped hundreds of missiles leaving huge tell-tale craters behind. The tunnels also have “mantraps” - large camouflaged holes dug deep into the ground that ensnared enemy soldiers by bamboo spikes. But don’t worry, you won’t step in one! You’ll also discover the remains of an American tank that was destroyed by a landmine which you can climb on for great photos. The Cu Chi experience can be emotionally draining for some visitors, but it offers fascinating windows into the hardship and traumas of war. Drive to Tay Ninh province with an escorted visits to the ‘Cao Dai Holy See’. Return to Ho Chi Minh City.

    Nam Bo Boutique Hotel

    • Accommodation consists of seven unique suites, each with a lounge area, separate bathroom and all the latest amenities. Rooms are finished in a French Colonial style, with high ceilings and Vietnamese furnishings and artwork. The effect is somehow swanky but home-like, making it a good choice for families.
    • We particularly enjoyed the impressive breakfast menu, served on the roof (or in your suite) and the hotel's two well-received restaurants.
    • The Nam Bo restaurant downstairs focuses on classic Vietnamese cuisine, while the roof-top L'Escale serves a high end European menu, complemented by an enticing wine cellar, and beautiful sunset views across the water.
