    Some Key Facts:

    • The Lodge is deep within the Sapa Valley, atop two cone-shaped hills - it doesn't get much more removed from the hustle and bustle of life than this. While facilities are reasonably basic, they're very comfortable, finished in natural textures like stone, terracotta and wood, and softened with splashes of warm colour and local textiles. Bathrooms are simply and airy, tiled in warm neutrals and equipped with attractive contemporary fixtures.
    • Guests dine on a mostly traditional, mostly Vietnamese menu in the lodge’s restaurant, which is comprised of two Tay stilt houses that were painstakingly moved from their original locations and rebuilt in their new location, which takes full advantage of the magnificent scenery all around.
    • Views from the Lodge are all truly spectacular, whether you're relaxing at the outdoor dining area or setting off, by foot or bike, down one of the excellent nearby trails.

With breathtaking views across the scenic valleys below, which are home to villages populated by the Tay and Red Dao minorities, the Topas Eco Lodge does take around 30 minutes to reach by car from the centre of Sapa - but you won't regret making the effort.

The views around the hotel are breathtaking. The villas are private and the hotel is in a remote area. It took quite a while to get there but I think it was worth it to be in the location we were in. We trekked through a couple villages the first day and came back to relax at the hotel. The food and drinks were great. It was nice to sit and read a book in the room or at the main building. We also had a foot massage at the spa. I'd definitely go back. Next time I'd like to try riding the bikes they provide to explore a little more of the local area and maybe do a different trek in the area.

On a side note, I do not recommend taking the train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. It was miserable. We barely slept because it was so jerky. If there's another option, take it!!

    “Beatiful Views”

I have been to Sa Pa couple of time but this stay in Topas is amazing. I could not believe my eyes that the scenes around Topas are so stunning. The room is clean and without TV and internet in the room help me escape my busy work environments. I love waking up in the morning and having a cup of coffee against magnificent view of the valley and mountain. It's great to stay, especially in September, I think.

    “Amazing Sa Pa!! ”

This is very beautiful place. The rooms are well appointed and have terrific views in all directions. However, the trip from Sapa is lenghty due to poor roads. This is an expensive place to stay and the cost value relationship goes in favor or cost, meaning the value received is not met considering the cost. Never-the-less, I am glad to have stayed there.

We spent 3 days in Topas Ecolodge, in a bungalow with an AC. We both loved it a lot! Obviously the view is what makes it very special but also the experience of interacting with minorities, and seeing how they live makes it even better. I think it's very important to take a trip to one of villages close by, and also familiarising a bit with the base/motto on which Topas Ecolodge was built. It does make you appreciate Topas even more!

The food is lovely, home cooked, simple, delicious. Hubert, passion fruit creme brûlée was amazing - we ordered it for both dinners!!!

The rooms are clean, spacious, with amazing views.
Staff is very friendly, always trying to do best they can to accommodate guests requests.

We had a great time in Topas Lodge, and hopefully will be back at some point! The highlight of our Vietnam trip so far!

    “Incredible location!”

One night at the Nam Cang Riverside lodge and one night at the Ecolodge was a fabulous package giving a wonderful insight into the traditional way of life of the Dao village people. We had a wonderful guide, Tuan, who explained and gave us so much information about the village, people and way of life. He was friendly and sensitive to our needs and wishes ensuring we had everything we needed. The transfers from Hanoi and to the Ecolodge near SaPa were in a modern comfortable luxury minibus. The Riverside lodge was rustically charming and felt very close to nature and the Ecolodge was clean and very comfortable with breathtaking views. The food at both locations was superb. We appreciated the ethos and the fine principals the Ecolodge is based on. We would recommend this to anyone wishing to go off the beaten track and enjoy the tranquility of these two locations. Wonderful!
