  • Kim Tho Hotel

    Some Key Facts:

    • Guest rooms are large, airy and sleek, combining woods and a neutral decor in a pleasant contemporary style. Views vary between city and river and rooms benefit from a modern range of basic amenities.
    • Whilst there is no pool, there is a very pleasant sauna, jacuzzi and massage service; and the location isn't to be sniffed at either - extremely central and convenient for the market and for dining out.

Whilst the Kim Tho is unlikley to be winning exterior-style awards any time soon, things start to look up the second you step inside.

During our stay at Kim Tho Hotel, we received excellent restaurant service from Thao and her staff. A 5-star rating indeed! I would recommend this to other tourists who are visiting Can Tho. This would be their best pick.

“Excellent Restaurant Service with Restaurant Manager Named Thao”

If possible ask for a room with riverview on one of the higher floors. It is worth paying a little bit more. Rooms are clean and spacey. From here it is easy to book your boot to the Cai Bo floating market. Have breakfast at 6 AM and leave early. Boat will take you in half an hour to the market.

    “Beautifull riverview”

We stayed here one night and that is the max time I would recommend. The room was quite shabby with a big patch of mould in the corner. We had a river view which was nice. The room is air conditioned, but is placed right above the bed which makes the room freezing to sleep in as it blows directly on you. Our bedding had stains on it, and the bed itself was rock hard and uncomfortable I did not have a good night's sleep and woke up aching. The fridge goes off when you take the key card out so you can't keep anything cool. There was no price list for anything in the fridge either. The TV channel list supplied is out of date so none of the channels correspond. The shower was a bit of an eyesore as had massive tank in it. (See photo) Walls were very thin, could hear people in the other rooms. The breakfast was good, there was a lot on offer and a large dining space.

    “Basic and does the job”

We stayed one night here as we made our way to Ho Chi Min. Half of our party stayed on the ninth floor - both end rooms had good views. The other half stayed on the 4th floor which had now views. Rooms were comfortable. Some rooms had a king and double, some just a king bed, some two doubles. I thought the breakfast had a lot of choice and good opportunity to try local food. Our tour guide helped us choose the breakfast food so we tried something new. The dining room is very busy at breakfast. There is a bar on the roof and would highly recommended having a coffee here for the view. Would not recommend the restaurant on the corner, next to the hotel - very loud 'duf duf" music and so dark we couldn't read the menus. Food was just ok.

    “Central location”

The staff here were very friendly and the rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy but that is expected at a 3-4 start hotel. The location of the hotel is ideal as it is close to and overlooking the river, as well as being located in the center of town less than 1km away from night market. Breakfast was nice, however more catered to Vietnamese people, cereals would have been nice as that it one of the most popular choices for a western breakfast. Massage was great, and at a reasonable price too. Enjoyed our stay and was ideal for a family.
